Long Island Oilheat is Renewable.
Long Island Oilheat is growing greener by the year, thanks to innovations like ultra-low sulfur heating Oil (ULSHO) and Bioheat® fuel, as well as through legislative achievements. On September 13, 2017, Governor Cuomo signed into law Senate Bill 5422A, which sets a minimum standard of 5 percent biodiesel in all heating oil sold in Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester counties. After July 1, 2018, all Oilheat dealers on Long Island will sell renewable blends of Oilheat!
Ultra-low sulfur Bioheat® fuel produces near-zero emissions. Plus, it can be used with any Oilheat system without making modifications to your burner or tank. It improves efficiency, reduces pollution from heating systems, and helps lower maintenance costs.
Many of the renewable resources used to make biodiesel, like soybean and corn, are grown in our own backyard, promoting energy independence for Long Island.
It pays to use Bioheat® fuel! Residents who use B6 (6 percent biodiesel) or higher blends can claim a tax credit of up to 20 cents for every gallon purchased, at one cent per percentage of biodiesel used in the heating oil, up to B20 (20 percent biodiesel).
